Q. What is the length of the student school day?

A. The first bell rings at 7:55 a.m. and students are dismissed at 2:50 p.m.

Q. Can my child walk or ride a bike to school?

A. Absolutely! Just please make sure to review safety procedures when using those means of transportation.

Q. Are lockers being assigned to each grade level?

A. Yes. At the beginning of the school year, every student is assigned a locker.

Q. If my child is absent due to an educational trip or illness, how do I inform the school, obtain the educational trip paperwork, or pick up missed homework?

A. One of the easiest and best ways to retrieve homework is through the use of Schoology. You can also contact their teachers directly by email. If your child is going to be absent from school, please notify our attendance secretary. You can reach her by email at fmsattendance@fairviewschools.org, by phone at (814) 474-3126, or fax at (814) 474-1640. If you are planning an educational trip, you must request it ahead of time by submitting an Educational Trip form.

Q. My child must take medication during the school day. What should I do?

A. Please refer to the FMS website, under Nurse's Office, or contact our school nurse, for more information at (814) 474-3115.

Q. Why does my student need a "Student ID"?

A. Student ID's enable students to access their lunch accounts, take out books from the library, and log into the Fairview School District network.

Q. Will there be access to the building during the school day?

A. There will only be access for registered visitors. Please stop and sign in at the office for entry into the building. See Safety and Security tab for more information.

Q. What do I need to bring when visiting the school?

A. In order to obtain entry into the school building, you must present a valid driver's license or photo identification. We will run this through our Raptor System and hold onto your ID until you sign out.

Q. What after-school activities are offered and how do I sign up my student(s)?

A. Apart from Athletics and Extracurricular activities, Exploratories are also offered. These activities vary based on student interest levels and the teacher's ability. Information regarding the Exploratory offerings will be posted on Schoology. You can also see the Activities and Organizations tab and the Athletics tab for more information.

Q. If my child participates in an after-school activity, is there transportation home?

A. Parents are responsible for transportation for after-school activities.

Q. How can I access important announcements regarding the middle school?

A. There are a number of options in which to do this. Telling Tigers daily announcements are posted on
Schoology every morning. For more information on how to use Schoology please click here.

Q. What is a detention?

A. Detention is offered as an alternate method of discipline, which allows the student to remain in the classroom and reinforces our belief that homework and appropriate behavior is essential to the learning process. Detention hours vary between lunch detention, one-hour, and two hour detention. Students will be notified in advance if they are to attend detention.

Q. What is the procedure regarding weather, cancellations, and delays during the winter months?

A. The
