Bat Boxes

By Owen Hitt

The Bat Boxes found near the soccer fields at the north eastern part of the school district's property were part of a project designed to provide a suitable nesting site for the local bat population. This project was carried out by Owen Hitt as his Eagle Scout Project. The project consists of 4 tall posts placed along the row of trees at the edge of the school district property. On the top of these posts, there is a thin box designed to be a suitable home for bats to live inside. Also, bat boxes are useful since they offer protection for the bat's offspring which will help to raise the nearby bat population. Bat Boxes are an important addition to the school district because they help to conserve the local bat population.
