Refinished Observation Deck
By Sean Berger
After Fairview School District received a grant in 1993-1994 to build an environmental study area, the first project that was done was to build an observation deck overlooking the swampy area between Fairview High School and Route 98. However, over time, the observation deck gradually became worn down creating the need for refurbishing it. When Sean Berger was looking for an Eagle Scout project, he found that the school district needed the observation to be refinished, so he took up the project to make the observation deck look like it did when it was first built. Today the observation deck is used by students and members of the community as a place to stop at while walking on the trail and to observe the elements of nature surrounding them.
