Third-grade students participated in racing MAGLEV vehicles. The students designed the sails for their racers and competed to find the fastest racer for their unit about force and magnetism in Science Class. So many creative students we have!

Students had a chance to attend the Women in Business event at Penn State Behrend today. They heard from professors, students, and business leaders in a variety of business fields and toured the campus.
Chopped champions for the week of March 20th are Grace Garrity, Braya Sorenson, Alex Price and Christine Zhang with a winning dish of Spaghetti and Meatballs with homemade sauce and meatballs!
FHS Photo and Art Exhibition
Our kindergarten classes had a chance to go to Asbury Woods before Spring Break. Students got to see animals and learn about seeds and seed sorting. They also got a chance to walk the grounds and learn about the trees that are native to our area.
This week the FMS students received a Thank You from Erie's Anna Shelter for their amazing fundraising efforts!
The FHS ceramics students went on a field trip to Penn West University to participate in a raku firing process. We had such a great time. We got to learn a lot about the university and their art programs.
The AP physics class uses kinematics and conservation of energy in order to determine the initial velocity of a launching sphere. The AP and CP physics class are examining if the radius and rotating mass is affecting the centripetal force.
On the last day of school before Spring Break, Mr. Quiggle held his famous Bunny Hop. Unfortunately, Mother Nature didn't get the memo, so the Bunny Hop had to be inside. As you can see, the students just loved being able to hop around the gym with all the special teachers and we even had 2 very colorful Peeps show up!
Our gifted students wanted to show appreciation to all the teachers and staff so they created a hot chocolate and coffee bar. Their offers included hot chocolate with all the fixings, cookies, donuts, and other yummy treats! What a great and creative way to give back to the school, especially when spring hasn't sprung yet!
The first graders are finishing up their unit on Earth's Surface in Science. They did a soil investigation after learning about the importance of soil on Earth. Did they find anything good, like worms or gold?
We had such a great time at our Beach Pizza Bingo event hosted by our wonderful PTO. It was a sold-out event! The food was delicious, and the prizes were plentiful. Thank you to the FES PTO for putting on such an amazing event where the parents and students in our community have such a wonderful time.
Congratulations to Mekenzie Rowland for being selected as a PMEA Future Music Educator! She has been selected as 1 of 20 students that will participate in this year's PMEA Future Music Educators Honor Symposium to be held at the PMEA All State Festival, held in the Poconos April 19-22.
Students in Mrs. Mummert's 5th grade music class concluded their unit on Jazz Music last week by participating in group research on one of three Jazz Musicians; Louis Armstrong, George Gerswhin and Jon Batiste. After discovering important information about their artist, the students created a poster to share with the rest of the class and selected a song for the class to listen to.
Amazing field trip to today with so many cross-curricular experiences! We were able to spend the entire tour and lunch 100% immersed in Spanish, thanks to our Dominican community members in Erie: Lakshi Cruz at the Erie art museum, and Dina‘s authentic Dominican Kitchen in the food hall. ¡Muchísimas gracias! Lo pasamos súper bien!
FES students had the chance to have some out-of-school fun at Lakers and Lakettes! What a great way to work on their coordination, balance, and strength, and to have a little fun along the way.
As 3rd grade wrapped up a Science unit on forces, motion, and simple machines, students had the opportunity to build a catapult. Students worked to fine-tune their design to make a day for some high marshmallow flying fun!
On March 23-25 Annika Biggs attended the PMEA Region II Band competition where she finished 2nd overall to earn her placement in States. She is one of 24 students selected from the Region II band that will participate in the PMEA All Sate festival to be held in the Poconos on April 19 - 22nd.
Congratulations to Adam Chiocco for being named the March C.L.A.S.S Act Award winner. We are extremely proud of Adam and his accomplishment.
