
Congratulations to the Model UN team for their 2nd place finish at the Collegiate Academy Model UN Conference this past weekend. Several students took home individual awards as well. Yuvi Singham Reddy and Shri Veeranki received an honorable mention in the United Nations Security Council.
Several students placed in the International Criminal Police Organization - Lilly Bernstein and Shareen Sheik received an honorable mention, Ray Alkhudari and Quinn Gould were named Outstanding Delegates, and Grace Liu took home first place in the committee, being named Best Delegate.
Maha Rallapalli and Elliot Levy placed first in their committee and were named Best Delegates in the United Nations Environment Programme. Congratulations to the whole team on an outstanding performance at the Model UN conference.

7th grade students in Miss Stankiewicz's class are discovering the difference between theoretical and experimental probabilities through activities like coin flipping, rock/paper/scissors, and dice rolling!



Students in the FMS Fashion Club have been busy with many projects this year. This past month, they created tie blankets. Some students plan to donate their creation to one of the animal shelters in Erie!


Mrs. Visosky's social studies class spent a few days learning about the Vikings that traveled in the middle ages.




Congratulations to the 7th and 8th grade boys indoor soccer team on winning the North East Indoor Soccer Tournament. The boys defeated Harborcreek in the final by a score of 3-2. Great job boys!


In Mrs. Smith's 6th grade ELA, the students are practicing their grammar skills this week to get ready for their next big writing unit. They are working on simple, compound, and complex sentences to make their writing more engaging, dynamic, and polished.



15 members of the FMS Roar Club served at Second Harvest Community Bank. They worked together to assemble 240 boxes of food for seniors.





Today 7th and 8th grade gifted students participated in the Four Seasons of STEM program conducted by the Regional Science Consortium. Students learned how to document shipwrecks by taking measurements used to triangulate and accurately plot points of a shipwreck. They also used grid drawings to recreate diagrams of shipwrecks. The highlight of the day was when they learned to snorkel and SCUBA dive from the instructors of Diver's World in Erie.







Last week, Ms. White's English class worked on visualization and working with poems.
Students were tasked with the activity of taking poetry and adding a scene that depicts what the poet is describing.





Pickleball: The winter session of Pickleball has ended with our 5th grade champions --Ethan Shears & Max Froehlich and 6th grade champions -- Nolan Dzurik & Carter Snoke! Great job to everyone that participated in the bracket!


Today is National Crossing Guard Appreciation Day, and we have one of the best crossing guards around! A huge shout out to Ms. Tina today for always going above and beyond. May she feel our appreciation for her dedication to our students today and every day!


MathCounts Competition: Congratulations to our 8 mathletes that competed last weekend at the MathCounts competition at Gannon University! The top 8 students who represented FMS were Grace Liu, Rayteb Alkhudari, Shri Veeranki, Perry Qiu, Gunnar Carlson, Kadee Qiu, Nick Bloom, and Tanishq Sharma. Fairview took home 4th place as a team, and Grace Liu took home 7th place out of over 120 contestants. Way to go Tigers!





The FMS Choir had a great time at the Erie Otters school day game on February 4th. After giving an exemplary performance of "O, Canada" and "The Star Spangled Banner" the students enjoyed watching the game and participating in the activities. Four of our students even got to play Musical Chairs on the ice between the 1st and 2nd periods; Quinn Gould, Brayden Hadbavny, Molly Murphy and Maha Rallapalli.




Last week 5th and 6th grade gifted students shared a great field trip! Camp Glinodo is located in Harborcreek overlooking lake Erie. It was a beautiful view! It was a little chilly but we were nice and warm inside. We competed in a hackathon against the 6 grade gifted students at FMS and Warren middle school students. The hackathon was focused on trying to combat invasive species. They had to research and develop a prototype. The students won the "innovative impact award!"



Congratulations to our 7th & 8th Grade Robotics Teams for taking 1st and 2nd Place for their Innovation Projects at the FIRST Lego League Robotics Competition held at Penn State Behrend on January 18th. This competition gave the students the opportunity to showcase their months of hard work and made Fairview Middle School very proud. Great job!




Students in Mrs. Yates’ and Mrs. Von Volkenburg’s 5th grade math class used their knowledge of adding and subtracting fractions to find ingredient amounts to create slime! What a fun day with a lot of memories made!










Congratulations to the FMS students who participated in PJAS this weekend. Yuvi Singam, Shri Veeranki, Ray Alkhudari, Lilly Bernstein, Shareen Sheik, Jenna Bull, Maha Rallapalli, and Grace Liu all won first prize. Special congratulations to Grace Liu who had a perfect score!


Mrs. Nicholl’s class was visited by an assistance dog, NASA, and took turns dressing him and brushing him. NASA helps encourage students with their expressive and receptive language, fine and gross motor control, socialization, self-help skills and much more! This learning opportunity is made possible through Fairview’s partnership with the Achievement Center.





Today, 5th grade Lifetime Health and Fitness went snowshoeing with Mrs. Beachly!



For most of our FMS family, it seems like Winter Break just started, but this is a reminder that tomorrow is the last day!
